I have an older Onkyo without HDMI, and I run HDMI to my TV, and then an
audio Toslink fiber cable takes the signal from the TV to the amplifier.
The TV can actually convert the audio from HDMI to Toslink. You may want
to try this setup. I have never noticed any delay.
