The ChannelIcons Storage Group is built-in and you needn't
create one.

Note the test* in the Wiki, if that doesn't work, then mythweb
and the frontend won't display any channel icons. Since your
ls of ~mythtv looks good, I'd guess that the icons are still
in your DB in the old format (e.g.full path names rather than
just the icon files.)
