Maybe my setup is wrong but it does NOT record like that for me
I get 2 recordings
Pre1-Rec1
Rec2-Post2
I watch recording1 which stops near the end
switch to recording2 which continues recording1
There are 4 tuners available. 1 gets used throughout, 3 stay idle

Mythtv scheduler will act according to what you tell it to do. What I
described is not carved in stone, merely a potential, and reason to use, or
permit multirec.
