rsteff at ThinkCentre-M58p:~$ less ~mysql/.my.cnf
/nonexistent/.my.cnf: No such file or directory

rsteff at ThinkCentre-M58p:~$ locate .my.cnf

rsteff at ThinkCentre-M58p:~$ locate .cnf
/etc/mysql/debian.cnf
/etc/mysql/my.cnf
/etc/mysql/conf.d/mysqld_safe_syslog.cnf
/etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf
/etc/ssl/openssl.cnf
/usr/lib/ssl/openssl.cnf
/usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.5/examples/my-huge.cnf.gz
/usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.5/examples/my-innodb-heavy-4G.cnf.gz
/usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.5/examples/my-large.cnf.gz
/usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.5/examples/my-medium.cnf.gz
/usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.5/examples/my-small.cnf
/usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf

The closest one is /etc/mysql/my.cnf but that's The MySQL database
server configuration file. Nothing in it about passwords.
