Thank you, Mark and Greg. The solution was opaque but documented. See
https://github.com/tschaumburg/MythRecordings.bundle/wiki/2.2-MythTV-networking-setup.
I changed the MythTV backend setup from 127.0.0.1 to 192.168.0.5, but
that did not help. Then I changed the Plex bundle plugin's setup from
192.168.0.5 to 127.0.0.1 and it worked! I don't understand why this
works, but I confirmed it with nmap:
sudo nmap -p 6544 -sS 192.168.0.5 returns "6544/tcp closed mythtv"
and
sudo nmap -p 6544 -sS 127.0.0.1 returns "6544/tcp open mythtv"!
