Hi Curtis!

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, this is correct. When I've wanted to get rid of these in the past
I went into the backend and "deleted all tuners" regardless of system.
This will give you a clean state to start with.

Had done that and had a heck of a time getting the original HVR-1600 card
(adapter0,frontend0) working again. I'll be a 'chicken' and leave
things ugly!!

I'm not exactly sure what has gone wrong with your installation. I've
build three PVRs with dual HVR-2250 (not 2255) cards and these have
worked well for me. I wrote a tutorial on how I did it.
http://gedakc.users.sourceforge.net/display-doc.php?name=pvr-install-mythbuntu1404

Very nice tutorial!! Glanced over and redid/added a few sections which
seemed appropriate:

At "I. Enable the Capture Card". Before doing anything I checked to
see if the NXP7164*.fw file was there, Is. Figured it was as my checks
in the original post seem to indicate was OK; redownloaded and copied
and rebooted. Still unavailable.

At "K. Install TV, DVD and HDD Utilities". Installed LeafPad and
IVTV-UTILS. Latter identified as "TV Tuner Utilities" - maybe fixes
something?! Nope. (And at this point no idea where that utility
appears - I'm at the Desktop with Terminal running.)

Continued on to "L. Ensure Full Boot Up After Power Off" because even
though the Backend is on a UPS the power can be out for longer than the
battery. Edited grub. The sudo update-grub command gave me warning:
"Setting GRUB_TIMEOUT to a non-zero value when GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT is
set is no longer supported." Not sure if this is something you should
be aware of.

One thing I remembered while typing up there someplace is in MCC both
cards aren't listed. Comes up fine _within_ #2 Capture Cards, but at
the screen which appears after selecting #2 Capture Cards I see:
    Capture Cards
    (New capture card)
(Delete all capture cards on MythFE1) [which is the name of the
Frontend portion, not the Backend portion]
    (Delete all capture cards)
    [DVB:/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0]

Is that right or significant of something?? Not seeing the HVR1600
(adapter0/frontend0) listed seems odd, or (probably!) the first half of
the HVR-2250 (1,0) listed (in brackets, not parenthesis) might be trying
to tell me something. (The second half hasn't been started.)

#4 Video Sources lists the HVR1600 and HVR2250a (again, the second half
hasn't been started).

#5 Input Connections lists
    Input Connections
    [DVB:/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0] (DVBInput -> HVR2250a

(The Channel Editor lists the stations found during the earlier scan
step.)

OK, bugged you enough with the trivia! Thanks for helping!

Barry
