That is probably because I tend to use my programming editor
(Slickedit) to create README files and edit config files.  It runs on
my Windows box, and does not know about Linux permissions, so the
files get whatever SAMBA translates the permissions as.  Which is
normally full permissions as the SAMBA connection is using the root
account.  Permissions do not bother me much, as I am the only person
on my network, so all permissions normally do for me is to get in the
way of what I am trying to do.
