Yes, you usually need to update your lirc setup for the new in-kernel
drivers (devinput).  It took me quite a while to work through the new
config.  Lots of people have now done this though, so if you have
problems, we are here to help.  I have my working config for my MCE
and Hauppauge Nova-TD and HVR-900 remotes available for download from
here if you need an example to work from:
