in other news, while ur exec runs smoothly it remains shrunken; only curtis's 
eglfs version fills the screen...unfortunately, it suffers from frequent loss of 
hdmi output (the tv reports no signal when it's off long enough)-: and there's 
nothing in the log when the dropouts occur:-\
