Not possible. All the (current generation) DirectTV boxes output
some (selected) combination of composite (NTSC analog), component,
or HDMI (HDCP protected). The "usual" answer is a HD-PVR (1st
generation) with the DirecTV box connected (via component) to
the HD-PVR. There are some who will live with SD quality
and use (something like) the NTSC output and video encoder
(PVR-x50/500 or USB equivalent such as the HVR-1950).
CableCARDs are only mandated to be usable with (standard)
cable systems. IPTV providers or satellite providers have no
current standardized interface (the FCC is in the middle
of trying to equalize the playing field, but the rule making will
take a long time to resolve itself, and it is not at all clear if
MythTV will be able to play in that eventual world).
