[mythtv-users] New install stuck at frontend setup

New install of mythbuntu and it's been years since I have done this.

The box powers up and right after the password goes into frontend setup.
It then just loops around through 1/1 and 1/2 and nothing seems to make 
it happy.
The only way that I can escape from this is by power down.

Earlier I was able to scan and play many channels using Hdhomerun config 
and I can show
the Mythtv page in a browser.

Can someone tell me how to fix this?
At this point I've lost the entire system.
