I don't see how I'm wrong.  If there's more than one right way, and
I'm picking one of the right ways, that doesn't make me wrong.

I'm using one command now.  Michael suggested changing it to three
commands.  (I just start mythfrontend with command line options, he
suggested two calls to curl followed by mythfrontend with no options.)

I don't see the benefit.  That's what the command line overrides
already provide.
