That's not an answer.  It's just a setup for the question "Why am I
better off for not actively disabling/breaking MythTV's mechanism for
setting the window size?".

Anyone familiar enough with MythTV to know that this setting is even
there and could be used to do that would be sufficiently advanced to
not be confused.  99% of users are going to try to click & drag the
window corner, fail to resize it, and say "Huh, I guess you can't
resize this thing.".  Adjusting window sizes with a configuration
option in a settings dialog is really counter intuitive.

I don't really see any advantage to having MythTV remember the size
used the last time the frontend was run.  It's not a good predictor
for what size I'll want it to be on the next run.
