The Arris DCX3200M-P3 I got from Shaw seems to have its firewire ports enabled, from the box's diagnostics, and the fact that I can use the 6200ch channel-changer (with mods) and test-mpeg2 captures content.
Is this enough of a test to suggest Myth can record from this box over firewire?
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/6200ch says I should update firewiredevice.cpp and I've had at look at it and it does seem to need updating in a couple spots to recognize the box.
This leads me to believe that I can't use firewire recording without patches.
I'm on Fedora 22, using Myth 0.27.4 from RPMFusion. Do I have to wait for patches to percolate up to RPMFusion or is there a way I can patch and compile the parts I need? Or should I bite the bullet and move away from RPMs to compiling Myth myself?
