This was largely written before I read your post above. And yes, I
think the orphans/video route is the supported one.
I'm not sure how the loss of the seektables affects you. Does it mean
that all your cutlists have evaporated too, so that you get all the ads?
I can see that that would be unpopular.
For me, losing the table wouldn't be serious because I physically remove
the cuts asap to give a clean recording; after that the seektable is
only needed if I want to be able to skip around freely during playback.
I think, though it might now be too late, that I would do a db-backup,
then db-optimize, and then try a few single-recording "mythcommflag
--rebuild"s and see if they stick.
