This isn't necessary.  Note, too, that directly editing the channel 
table is not the proper way to make such changes (and can result in 
changes not being seen and/or propagated properly--among other issues, 
including much more dire ones).

Likely the change you made (or, more accurately, something you did after 
making the change, such as restarting the master backend) caused the 
scheduler to re-run or something, where it hadn't done so after other 
changes, and it noticed some of the other changes you had made when it 
did so, so it did what you had originally wanted/tried and the channel 
priority didn't actually change it.
