This patch is unlikely to be applied to MythTV directly. It really needs
to be applied to the upstream FFmpeg. Unfortunately, I am no longer in
contact with the ex-coworker that wrote it. I know we have permission to
use it, and they were fine with it being sent upstream to FFmpeg -- they
just never got around to doing it.

I have little to no experience with ffmpeg code, and would not be able to
answer any questions about the patch. I don't know if FFmpeg would accept
it with a note just saying "it works". I am guessing it will also need
modified to some extent, to work with the latest version of FFmpeg.

It would be great if someone would pick this up and see what it would take
to get it ready to be submitted as a patch against the latest version of
FFmpeg.

Once it is available in upstream FFmpeg, then mythtv would pull it down
into our code.
