[mythtv-users] DVB-T is trying to tune to PID 0x0

I am attempting to replace my old and known to be somewhat unreliable DVB-T
USB tuners with some Sony Play TV USB tuners which seem to have an excellent
reputation.

However I am having a nightmare of a time getting them to work reliably on
either fixes/0.27 (Ubuntu) or master (CentOS 7). At the moment I am doing
all my troubleshooting on master.

I have discovered that these appear to work very well if I tune them with
tzap and then basically just cat the dvr0 device to an mpg file. I can see
that it tunes to the correct PID (for my testing, for video it is 0x0531).

However after much investigation I have found that within MythTV the tuner -
when not working - is attempting to lock to PID 0x0, rather than PID 0x0531.
Which of course fails.

I have worked out that I can repeatedly unplug, replug and test the tuner in
MythTV but it can take many, many cycles before it works within MythTV -
although eventually it will work. Once it is working, it appears then to be
quite stable in MythTV and will work if the backend is stopped/started or
restarted. But if I ever reboot or have a power outage I am stuck with the
manual effort to try and get it working again. Other than the ability of
MythTV to tune the tuner, I can see no difference between the tuner when
working for Myth and the tuner when not working for Myth.

I have a log file snippet, below. Otherwise the only other observation I
have had is that on a working-for-mythtv tuner the cat output to mpg file
has the video PID as stream 0 and the audio PID as stream 1. On the
not-working-for-mythtv tuner the audio PID was stream 0 and the video PID
was stream 1. I don't know yet whether that was just random coincidence or
not.

Any guidance on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated as this has
me completely exhausted. Why is Myth trying to tune to PID 0x0?
