I am running Mythbuntu 27.4 on 14.04, with 1 Master Backend and 1
Frontend. All running fine for years with two HD-Homerun connected to
antenna.
I took the leap, ordered Charter Cable, Cisco 4640HDC box, and 1 HD-PVR
(1212).
I cannot get Mythtv to record (or at least play the file). I want to
use channel changing with IR bud that came with HD-PVR and think I have
configured LIRC correctly, but probably not. I'll save that for later.
First, it seems even if MythTV cannot change channels, I should at least
be able to record whatever the cable box is tuned to, correct? So I
select a program to record, but Frontend cannot play it, from backend logs:

But, I can cat /dev/video0 > test.ts and get a file I can playback.
Why can't Myth record a file and where else should I look for clues?
