Kodi, MythTV, AppleTV, SmartTV, Android TV,
a providers DVR, are all "acquired tastes". One
will either love it, hate it, or tolerate it. Once
one decides to like a particular approach, all
others are "wrong". Trying to convince others
that their approach is wrong is like trying to
argue PC vs Mac, iOS vs Android, Ford vs
Chevy pickups, or the ultimate flame bait,
vi vs emacs.

We should celebrate that there are choices,
and each project should learn from the others,
while not needing to sacrifice the goals and
priorities of the project(s). Often the best way
for that to happen may actually for someone who
absolutely despises Kodi to find the one thing
in it that s/he wishes MythTV had, and get it
done. And the reverse too(*).

(*) Often the person able to make the strongest
case for a position in a debate is someone who
disagrees with the position. It strips the biases
away, and makes people look at things rationally
rather than emotionally. If one cannot make a
strong case for the other side, they have to
examine if their position has a valid basis.
