[mythtv-users] Setup new backend while old one still running

Greetings all

Just trying to (re)install  a new backend machine and my first attempt
with mythtv-setup connected to the old one and totally trashed the
database when I tried messing with the capture cards. Thank goodness for
the backup scripts!!

How do I prevent this happening again as the old machine will remain
active until I've proven the new one.

As I'll be transferring the database over (the 2Tb of recording, videos,
pictures etc already rsync'ed across) can I also remove a few old frontend
references that have died over the years? The wiki has clear info on
changing the backend name but frontend data is a bit fuzzy (to me!)
