On a TV (never used a projector) there is usually a remote control
sequence of buttons to push to turn on 3D.

For example on my LG, there is a 3D button, which pops up a warning
about headaches, then offers a choice of 3D formats - side-by-side,
top-and-bottom, checker-board (yes misspelling and all), frame
sequential and 2d>>3d. If you choose the correct option, it plays the
file correctly.

By the way, some exciting news for those who like 3D. The latest
raspberry pi firmware allows hardware MVC decoding. MVC is the codec
on 3D blurays - there is no open source way to decode this, but now
that pi does it in hardware, open source players can leverage that.
Openelec (a distro of kodi/xbmc) has done it already. I'll be testing
tonight. It doesn't work on iso files yet, but it does on mkv's ripped
with makemkv.
