I am using zfs, btrfs and ext4 for years now. All disks are individual
disks (no real time raid or pooling) however I do use SnapRAID with 6
data disks and 2 external parity disks to protect against drive
failures. The parity disks only need powered on when I am doing
SnapRAID operations like scrub or sync.
