Can you confirm your streaming storage group is setup correctly?  Also,
after you initiate a transcode, either from the app or by going to http://[your
backend ip]:6544 in the browser, then navigate to API -> Examples -> HTTP
Live Streaming.  There you will see a list of every transcode you
previously attempted.  If none, exist, then you probably have an issue with
your streaming storage group setup.  Once confirmed, try to transcode a
recording or video from the web interface.  MythTV Player will pick it up
and you would be able to try to play it from there as well.  You can also
try to play it from the web interface, but you have to make sure the
JWPlayer plugin is installed.

If you are open to it, I could setup some time with you so that I can ssh
into your box, and pull your data into one of my running apps so I can see
the logs and catalog any exceptions that may be occurring.
