There have been assessments, I believe the current status is

RPI1 - Won't happen without a large rewrite of mythfrontend (due to the way
the video decoder works mythfrontend in it's current state could not have
an on-screen display while displaying video)
RPI2 - Might not happen without a large rewrite of mythfrontend (for the
same reason as above as it uses a similar video decoder), however someone
on this list was already working on it (although I haven't seen anything
from them in awhile)
