Anything that makes sense to you. But EIT is normally reserved for
program info transmitted with the channel

Both right. The channel definitions and program info is linked to the
video source and the video source is through input connections linked
to the hardware. But the tuning info is through the channels in the
video source.
The logic is that while the tuning of course is done with the
hardware, it is possible that you can reach multiple sources through
one tuner and that you can reach one source through multiple tuners.
So the cards represent hardware and the video sources the logic of
where and what, which link through the input connections.

Not directly. The channels contain that info and they are contained in a
video source, which needs the hardware through the input connection to
do the actual tuning.

No the scan option is in the input connection screen, but is part of
the video source linked in there.
