I certainly agree that there is some confusion but in the above I have
copied the names used by mythtv backend setup. In menu option number 4,
called video sources, that's where I find the EIT. So, if EIT is not a
video source, I'm confused.

In an earlier message you said: "To clear out everything, go to Sources and
do "Delete all sources" NOT "Delete all sources on this host". That should
nuke all your channel information. Then recreate the source(s) as new. "

The menu with the options for "delete all X" and "delete all X on this
host" is menu 2, capture cards (I am checking as I write). Menu 4, video
sources, has only "new video source", "delete all video sources" and "EIT"
(user entry), but not "delete all sources on this host".

Yesterday, in my attempt to follow your advice, I did "delete all X" in
menu 2, capture cards, as that was the only one that matched your
description of also having "delete all X on this host". I can now go back
into menu 4 and delete all sources too, if that was the intended advice.
Was it?

I have one physical card that contains two independent tuners, with two
different antenna sockets plugged into the back, both coming from the
satellite dish (which could feed up to 4). Myth calls them two "cards".
They have separate instances of the same hardware.

EIT is a provider of program schedule data, just like xmltv and

I understand this. And it's broadcast alongside the video data as opposed
to being something I get off the internet from somewhere else.

I certainly subscribe to that.

It is also not clear how to ensure that one channel scan will apply to both
"cards" (= both halves of my card). I was previously advised to do only one
scan and kind of hoping it gets picked up automatically by the other.
