[mythtv-users] Strange resolution problem

Hello all,

I'm having a very annoying problem with my projector, and am trying to
get to the bottom of if it's a projector fault or something wrong with
the settings of my frontend system.

I've got an ESC Liva frontend attached to a BenQ W1300 projector.

The projector has just come back from being repaired for a different
fault. In the mean time, I also reinstalled MythTV from scratch on the
Liva computer. So, both components are effectively 'new'.

The issue I'm having is that whenever I watch anything at full
resolution (1920×1080), the projector keeps going blank, 'searching' and
then picking up the signal again, but this time at 1919x1080. Then after
a few seconds or minutes, it will go blank again, and this time go back
to 1920x1080.

It seems to happen on or after scene cuts.

I've even seen it just in Mythbuntu itself (outside of MythTV), when
something like Firefox gets opened or closed.

I assumed that this must be a Mythbuntu setup issue. I assumed that the
sent signal must be somehow fluctuating between 1920x1080 and 1919x1080
for some reason. However, I have installed the mythbuntu frontend from
scratch twice since seeing this problem, and it's not going away!

Is there any way of knowing if it's a Mythbuntu setup issue, or another
problem with the projector?

One of the things that made me think that it could be the OS is that
after I set it all up, when I go to the 'display' section to check the
resolution, it says 1919x1080 the first time. However, I then click the
drop-down and select 1920x1080, and it's remained saying that ever since.

The projector is having to be returned yet again due to dust behind the
lens. I need to find out quickly if this is a Mythbutu issue or a
problem with the projector. I don't want to falsely accuse BenQ of
another problem as that will undermine the legitimate issues I have had
with the projector.

I don't have any other HD devices that I can plug into the machine to test.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Damian
