In a perfect world, there would be a published standard method by
which a valid subscriber could programmatically authenticate and
retrieve decryption keys from the IPTV server in real time and the
MythTV IPTV builtin backend support could do the decryption without
any specialized hardware.  But back on this planet...

It includes the line "Do not connect your TV Box output to a VCR.
Video signals fed through VCRs may be affected by copyright protection
systems and may produce a distorted picture on your TV.".  Is the
HDPVR tripped up by Macrovision and the like?
