I agree that this would be nice too but I don't really want to have to
go in and categorize all of my home videos.  After all, isn't that
adding metadata to something that I really want to skip completely?

I think the patch should do both.  It should check for the content type
as you stated above and it should check for the presence of a file such
as .nometa to completely skip the directory.

Just my two cents ...
