I don't know that this is the most elegant solution, but the DVD status
can be gained via the udevadm command, e.g. "udevadm info -n /dev/sr1 -q
property".  This works even when there is no mount information via the
command "mount" or in /etc/mtab, which is the case when the FE is
running. When a DVD is present, the first line from the udevadm call
will end in "/dev/disk/by-label/TITLE".
Mike - I want to build DVD ripping capability run via the FE menu.
