Not using xfce, just gdm for logging in, and fluxbox for a basic, low
resource window manager.  However, that thread did encourage some
thoughts: the screen blanking mechanism I've been using is the Xorg
default/built-in blank screen mechanism (I wasn't using any
screensaver).  I just tried disabling that, and setup xscreensaver
(because I know from past experience mythtv plays well with this).
I'll give it a few days to see if it helps at all.
