So an answer just for the point of contradicting I see....

Running a Frontend that may crash from time to time, and assuming the
problem is in the code (which I rather doubtful but anyhow), then running
it in gdb and once it crashes get the backtrace is far easier IMO, and
that's how I've always done it.
