Lost Internet service here for about 30 hours - thus the slow response.
I like the thought of being able to gain the benefits of LIRC if
possible, at least as an option to try and compare. However, I looked at
that article and it relies upon HAL, which has been deprecated in most
Linux systems for a few years. From what I've read udev has
absorbed/replaced HAL. I wonder if it works as well with udev? I'll have
to give it a try.
