Rogers has been reported to have DNS infrastructure issues
over the years, and also to "adjust" the responses.  Neither
are good things.

Running your own (caching and DNSSEC validating) DNS
service is usually a better option, but I would agree that
that should not be necessary (but practice sometimes
gets in the way of theory), and it increases the level of
sophistication required at the residence.
