still had issues with the bbc1 channel i was using, but after checking all the bbc1 channels i had scanned, it appears that i just didnt have the correct one enabled. swapping to bbc1 hd (UK freesat has now updated channel order so the HD versions have now taken over the SD channel number), and things are working well...
Thanks for the info as-well; i didn't realise that message meant it was just an unassigned XMLTVID.
