Actually, not necessarily (as you suggest).  Code gets
written/contributed when someone has an itch.  Someone
wrote the crystalhd decoder because they wanted it.  If
someone wants OpenMAX support bad enough to write
(or convince someone else to write it, or pay someone
else to write it), it will happen.  Wishes are wonderful
things, but unfortunately tinker bell does not currently
contribute code to the project (although if you wish
hard enough, maybe that can change).
