[mythtv-users] Linkage of "type" and "image"

After reading the material on menus and the material on themes I seem to
have missed a couple of bits of information. I don't see where the type
used in the menu xml is associated with a particular image. The material
suggests that new types could be added as well but I did not see where
or how. I am currently using the mythbuntu theme and would like to
customize some menus, and add/use some different photos. Anyone able to
point me in the right direction?  Thanks.
