Sorry Mike, no it's not something else on the system causing power
save mode to kick in as turning on power management in xscreensaver
advanced settings is what determines whether power saving mode happens
and more specifically changing the time in that dialog box changes the
time the power save mode kicks in.....QED it must be the xscreensaver
advanced settings that are controlling power saving mode.
