[mythtv-users] Can't change volume from 0

I've got an odd one here.
I have a Mythbuntu front end (0.24.1) that's been working fine for years.
I wanted another one, I cloned the disk, cloned the settings and keymaps in the database, changed the hostname on the clone. It's the same hardware (Fujitsu Scaleo E), but I can't change the volume. When I press the volume up button on the remote, the volume overlay shows with volume set at 0, but it won't shift.

Any ideas ?
