[mythtv-users] IguanaIR configuration

I've been having... variable results, say, from my cheapo MCE remote knockoff
and USB dongle. It doesn't handle all the keys on the remote and figuring out
what's wrong is like wading through... you get the idea.

As my son was coming to the UK from the US I got him to bring me an IguanaIR USB
dongle and blaster cable. It seemed simpler that way. I've now got to the point
of attempting to configure it.

I'm running Debian Wheezy with the deb-multimedia repository for mythtv
components. For this experiment I have built a completely clean additional host
with LIRC which I'm going to use to work through the setup. Once I know what I'm
doing I'll know how to approach the FE hosts. These currently work /without/
using LIRC.

I also want to use the blaster to program my Logitek 650 universal remote with
some more sensible codes.

The version of LIRC which is available to me is 0.9.0~pre1 which doesn't have
the iguanaIR driver in it. Fortunately the instructions on downloading (Debian)
source and building LIRC with the hooks works OK. I now have a LIRC daemon
working which should in theory talk to the iguanaIR daemon.

It does, sort of. All the tests work and, to my amazement, sending appears to
work, judging by the debug logging which I enabled.

Unfortunately, receiving doesn't. All I have is irw and it just sits there.
Nothing appears in the iguanaIR log at all.

The documentation is typical open source, in that it tells you what to do and
assumes that works. What happens when it doesn't is left to the reader's
imagination. It's also out of date, of course.

I'm assuming that there must be some kind of socket mismatch or configuration
problem here; can anyone out there with a similar setup help?
