Right.  And you have the choice to buy Android devices or not, knowing
what you are getting.

But unlike a lot of other (Android even) phone manufacturers, Google is
also giving you the choice to not be treated as a kid if you wan and
root your (Google -- i.e. Nexus) device with great ease.  Mine is rooted
and running Cyangoenmod 12 (Lollipop) even.
