[mythtv-users] alt lightweight web servers for MythTV?

The proposition of using nginx sounded interesting, even though I thought
it might be beyond my rather modest technical abilities. Emboldened by
discovery of some installation instructions for both nginx and php-fpm on
the Gentoo wiki, in combination with the write-up on nginx and MythWeb on
the MythTV wiki, I overcame my reluctance and had a go at this. But I've
pretty much flopped face-first straight out of the gate. I can't seem to
get things working and am uncertain what to try next.
The write-up at the MythTV wiki turned out to be not so helpful partly
because it seems to presume that the reader is already conversant with
setting up web servers using Apache--a condition that does not describe
me. It also appears a bit dated, furthermore seeming to be based on a
distro that does not match mine. Thus directories, paths, and file names
in the write-up do not exist in my installation. Given my sketchy grasp of
Apache and web servers, any my even sketchier understanding of nginx and
php, I'm now seriously stuck.
Web searches on serving MythWeb via nginx haven't turned up much. So I'd
like to ask here whether anyone might direct me to some other resources
that can help me out of this impasse? I would be most appreciative of any
input that might allow me to progress toward getting MythWeb up and
running here. Thanks
