I believe the term you actually want is "recently independently
discovered", or, perhaps, "recently publically disclosed".

In any event, patch early, patch often.  This bash vuln is
not the only thing you need to worry about, but just apply
the patch, and you can stop worrying about this one.

While I would always encourage one to test any patch
in your environment before wide deployment, for most,
just apply the vendor security patches as soon as they
are available.  They are called security patches for a
reason (and some vendors keep security patches in a
different patch stream than bug fixes).
