[mythtv-users] 1920x800 videos stretched vertically, cutting off left and right sides

I just discovered on a 1920x800 video that the screen is being “stretched" vertically to fill the screen vertically and cutting off the left and right sides of the video.

I’ve tried to use different aspect ratio for GUI and playback, setting X to 1920 and then display using 1920x1080, but it didn’t help.

I think I’m missing something painfully obvious, but I cannot find it.  It’s making me feel rather clueless right now.
