the GUI opened as expected. I even tried correct spelling:

daryl at daryl-A780L3C:~$ sudo killall mythbuntu-control-centre-backend
mythbuntu-control-centre-backend: no process found
daryl at daryl-A780L3C:~$

could this have to do with MCC being set according to a database restore?
