If you are on MythTV 0.27.4, it doesn't matter when you start.

If you are on Ubuntu and have an earlier version, you can 
install Mythbuntu Control Center and tell that to update you to 
0.27.04.

You can start your subscription now anyway.  It doesn't poll 
Schedules Direct until you put your log-in information into your 
MythTV BackEnd configuration.

I'm guessing that Schedules Direct is going to get busier as the 
cut-over arrives.
