I assumed that because 12.04 is a better choice for a FE that uses 
either ION or Fusion E-350 hardware that it would also be the better 
choice for the MBE. I've already proven myself wrong and did in fact 
install a fresh 14.04.1 to remedy the problem and am preparing to 
migrate the database today. Fortunately the original MBE is still 
running so things aren't particularly urgent.
