I know Robert said this earlier, but it bares repeating.

If you run mythfilldatabase as *any* other userid at
some point, inadvertently, or intentionally (perhaps
as root right after one modified /etc/hosts, or as
yourself rather than the mythtv user), you are going
to see issues(*) that will not produce any (useful)
error message at later runs.  In fact, a common
result is no error messages, but no new data.

Make sure you delete any files or directories in /tmp
that start with the word mythtv (in particular,
mythtv_ddp_data).

And then make sure you run mythfilldatabase with
the same user that your backend (or crontab) will
do so.

(*) As mentioned in another thread, there are
tickets in trac that will (a) cause common failures
to actually generate error messages rather than
failing silently in more cases, and (b) use an
appropriate temp name to avoid the most common
failures in the first place.
