Ok, I'm running an onboard nvidia 9400 (IIRC).
So following from instructions in the thread you referneced I've :
# sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
# sudo apt-get install nvidia-304 nvidia-settings
I'll reboot the box and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully it's a fix.
